Team History
Team History by David "Chronos" Henderson
Some have asked lately how long Black List has been around and how the team started. Well before my memory becomes too clouded with age here is how I remember it.Back in the late 80s I started playing Paintball with some friends in Georgia. Nothing special, just a bunch of friends having a good time. In the early 90s I had moved to Texas and started playing paintball with friends at a Local field and joined in on some local teams playing tournaments. In early 93 or 94 A friend of mine told me about this guy in Houston named Viper that had just started doing Scenario Games. He had had one at a field in Houston called BSG the year before and it had gone well. By now I had started a small paintball store, and with wavier in hand I signed up a large amount of my patrons and we headed for Houston. The Game was a blast; it was more fun than I had ever had playing tournaments. I was hooked.During the next year or so another game or two was added, I religiously headed to each one, BSG had become a Meca for paintballers in the area and we looked forward to each one. Some where in this time frame a Team had formed that traveled across the country to play in scenario games in Florida with the founder himself. This was a great time; there were more players and fewer producers. As a result they got along, too the point that he even came to Texas to bless the games, playing a part in the scenarios. Anyway back to the Team, this Team was Team Blitzkrieg. In 95 or early 96 I was asked to join along with my wife Jennifer (Siren) we were delighted to say the least. After that I started to travel with the Team as we went across the country to play in the games that now were starting to sprout up across the country. We traveled from Florida for Waynes games and all the way up to Blues first Hunt for the Holy Grail (we were the virgins of castle anthrax) The next few years flew by, we went everywhere it seamed and it was a blast. In 99 or so things started to go south. People began to squabble and the team suddenly wasnt as much fun anymore. Things came to a head not to long after the Clash of the Titans Game in LA. This game had split Blitzkrieg into Three Factions. Two were the commanders with me leading a 3rd faction force. This was a hard fought game and lots a tempers flared. Tell you the truth I really dont remember who won; I do know who lost though, Blitzkrieg. The game had left a lot of hard feelings and I dont think we were every the same again. Not to long after this I and a couple of other players decided we werent having fun anymore. The games now always seamed to lead to arguments and we were always being pulled from one side to another. Having a Scenario director on your team may sound like fun, but trust me it ends up being a nightmare for him and the Team. Players always assumed you were getting special treatment. As a result he would have to be even harder on us, but most never saw it and the rumors were always flying. About this time the Captain of the Team had decided he had enough and resigned. Who could blame him, who needs that kind of stress in something thats supposed to be fun?Black List is formed:After deciding we had had enough of the politics Siren, Z, Suicide, Ferret and myself called it quits along with a new member Hawk.Z and I spent a lot of time on the phone together. We had decided that we wanted to form a Team with one thing in mind: Having Fun. We wanted a Team that would play hard, play fair and have fun (sound familiar?) We spent a few hours on the phone talking about our options and wondering if anyone would be upset with us for quitting. After all we had just quit a team that the major scenario producers in the area were on. With this in mind we came up jokingly with the name Black List. Calling on the members that had quit with us we formed a new Team with Z, Siren Hawk and I. A team that wasnt about winning at whatever cost, but was instead about having fun and bringing new players to the game.Over the next few years Black List continued to play in Texas and abroad. Black List has continued to grow and evolve over the years, but we have remained committed to one thing. Play HardPlay FairHave Fun!!. We have continued to lead the pack in sportsmanship and fair play while maintaining a reputation for hard hitting and sneaky scenario paintball. Not a easy balance. Over the past 8 years Black list has played in roughly 25 scenarios and big games. We have won awards from almost every event we have attended. We as a Team hold the Most General Kills in one game for MXS and have won multiple Most Formable Opponent awards. We have won numerous MVPs , MVTs and numerous Sportsmanship awards. We have traveled across the country and Commanded in games from Shatner Ball to T Rev.In closing Team Black List is something I am proud to be apart of. This Team is to me what paintball is all about. The ability to have fun, meet new people and bring them into the sport I love. Scenario paintball.Well thats it..see you in the middle.
